OUR STORY

The Consonantis project began slowly about one year ago with one chamber choir, formed of Christian students from ‘Gheorghe Dima’ Music Academy. The only things we had were the desire to sing together, the scores and…our voices. So, we started by shaping our voices together through a lot of rehearsals, after which we went public. There were great experiences we wish we will be able to repeat.

The chamber choir idea led to another- to add an orchestra. We saw that there are professional instrumentalists ready to worship God through music at any time. We contacted them, we made the team and we are now preparing for future concerts in our complete CONSONANTIS form.

Our repertoire is exclusively Romanian. Through our first concert, Consonantis choir and orchestra will give voice to some of the most relevant works in the history of Romanian Church that has been persecuted during communism. Nicolae Moldoveanu was a composer whose songs were orchestrated by Romanian arrangers from in and out of the country, especially for this event. Despite the fact that they all have the same source, these works will be different through the original style of each of the persons involved.

Even if we appear to be a handful of people, we have gratefully received- and still do- the help and the involvement of many young professionals that are standing behind the curtains, willing to offer their gift for this project to go on. I warmly congratulate the Consonantis Choir and Orchestra for their first public initiative. The concert represented an interest and a delight over multiple important sectors. The obvious spirit of great co-operation between performers and conductors, alongside the professional approach of every member, made the performers reach high quality results. The choir excelled through their vigour and the homogeneity of their sounds, but also through the sensitivity and their visible desire to restore the reach meaning of both musical and literal texts. The orchestra, formed of young renown Romanian musicians at the main positions-people with whom any professional orchestra in Romania would brag- have beautifully overcome some inequalities through an accompaniment.

Aş vrea să transmit persoanelor implicate în proiectul Consonantis, în mod special celor mai tineri, că m-am bucurat mult să descopăr oameni înzestraţi de Dumnezeu, capabili de a face lucruri mai profunde în muzica bisericească şi mă bucur de altfel şi de faptul că în bisericile neoprotestante se naşte dorinţa de ridicare a nivelului muzical. Trăim zile în care avem nevoie de oameni pregătiţi la cel mai înalt nivel muzical, dar care să aibă şi o relaţie cu Dumnezeu şi un „caracter davidic”. Sunt multe biserici care s-au descurajat în a mai investi în tineri, poate datorită „pierderii” lor în oraşele universitare. Nevoia de ucenicizare a rămas şi va rămâne pentru fiecare creştin, în orice domeniu de slujire se află, o responsabilitate permanentă. Marea trimitere ne aparţine şi nouă, muzicienilor, trebuie doar să ridicăm ochii, să privim holdele coapte şi să conştientizăm că fără noi, lucrătorii ar fi şi mai puţini. Nu că noi am face mult, dar să credem ca Rut, că încă se mai pot strânge spice şi în urma altor secerători cum au fost străbunii noştri, printre care şi fr. Niculiţă Moldoveanu, pe care am avut harul să îl cunosc personal. Vă doresc tuturor multă inspiraţie în tot ce faceţi şi haideţi, împreună, să căutăm tot mai mult să lăsăm în urma noastră drumuri deschise pentru cei care acum nu întrezăresc nici măcar o potecă.
